June 20th:
Rod and Bob Show Returns to Ski Shores for One Night Only

Friends,

For several years in the mid to late 90s, Bob Miller and Rod Moag held down the Thursday night slot at Ski Shores on Lake Austin. For much of that time "Drivin' Ivan" (Ivan Brown) was a regular on the gig as well. Bob's signature songs such as "I've Been Everywhere," and his standard closer "Train Ride Down to Austin," Rod's famous dock walk (once even performed from a boat 100 ft. out in the lake) and Ivan's world class acrobatics with and on his bass were all regular features of this zaney and unpredictable show.

In support of the Keep Austin Weird campaign, Rod, Bob, and Ivan's particular brand of weirdness returns to Ski Shores for one night only on Thursday, June 22 from 7-9:30 p.m. Another feature of those former gigs was the appearance of many "spacial guests" who would come up to sing one or two songs or bring their ax and sit in for the entire night. Past guests have included Walter Hyatt, Gurf Morlix, Darcie Deaville, Tom Pittman (Austin Lounge Lizzards), Grady Pinkerton, Ron Erwin, Sharon Sandomirsky, and so many more. Come and be a "special guest" or just a listener at this one-off recreation of a musical phenom from the last century. There's never a cover for the Rod and Bob show.

For map quest devotees, the address is 3907 Pearce Rd., (ph. 346-5915). For normal travelers: Take 2222 West, Turn left on city Park Road (next light past 360), go 4 miles South to the fork in the road just past the fire station, there's a sign with a girl water skiing reading Ski Shores Caffe. Follow Pearce Rd. (the left fork) to the bottom of the hill to the next sign with the water skiing girl. Leave your vehicle in the parking lot and come onto the dock.

February, 14th:
Rod Moag will be leading the band, playing electric mandolin, and emceeing the show featuring nine-year-old swing singer and ukulele player, Lauren Beller, on Valentine’s night at Threadgill’s World Headquarters, 6 - 6:30 p.m.

Lauren recently was part of the caste of the Ride With Bob stage production, co-written by Ray Benson, which depicts the life of Bob Wills. Lauren has sung with Merle Haggard, Pauline Reese, Freddy Powers, and Ray Benson.

If you haven’t heard or seen Lauren perform, you’ll be blown away. Her performance is part of a songwriters night organized in conjunction with the 18th annual Folk Alliance held this year in Austin, Febrary 10-14.

Friday, Dec. 9th
Rod and Bill Malone will do an in-store performance from 5-6 p.m. at Cheapo Discs, 9th and North Lamar, promoting their new duet album, Remember Me.

Thursday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m.
Threadgill's North, North Lamar Blvd.
